“Wonder”
“Wonder”, is a Country Gospel Quartet that is located in the mountains of the Shenadoah Valley in Rockbridge County, Va. They sing a variety of music, but specialize in country gospel music. They are especially proud of their four part harmonies, whether they sing with musical accompaniment or they are singing “A- Ca-Pella”.
“Wonder” was formed in 2000 out of a necessity to provide entertainment for a local Ice Cream supper. All members of the group share in the lead and harmony vocals and they play multiple instruments that add to the vocal harmonies.
The Group is dedicated to the love of performing “Gods” music. They specialize in this type music but do add a variety of other musical interests as well.
WONDER loves to have fun performing and entertaining at every opportunity. They play before church congregations, benefits and special occasions, when requested. This past year they were a big hit in Staunton Va. playing in front of eight thousand for their Fourth of July celebration. At the end of their show, a tribute to the Statler Brothers was given with a three song medley of the Statlers. This brought a standing ovation from everyone.
In 2006, WONDER recorded their first CD "Down By The Riverside" which includes both Gospel and Patriotic songs. Now in 2007, they have finished their second CD "2nd Time Around" The Group members are huge fans of the Bluegrass Vocal Group "IIIrd Tyme Out" and "The Statler Brothers". It is the inspiration of these groups that keeps “Wonder” motivated to share their God given talents with others.
In 2007 came television exposure. WONDER was ask to perform on WDBJ 7 in Roanoke Virginia for a holiday special, and has returned six more times to perform throughout the 2008 year.
Also while playing at a farmers market in Staaunton Virginia, a representative from PBS television offered them a spot on the Virginia Farming show which was broadcast in five states and then shown on (RFD
TV) national network. After the show was aired on (RFD TV), the group began to receive emails from across the country from new found fans.
Next in 2009, WONDER will begin to record their third album.
The quartet controls all operations from their home in Rockbridge County Virginia. All bookings are handled by all members of the group.
